Based on my knowlegde of AEV's, I would never use one in a refrigerator or freezer.

I asked of ' what you speak ' because with over 25 years in the trade, the only place I can recall seeing AEVs is on small air drier applications.
When taking my trade training, we set up a test box on the bench and used an AEV to meter refrigerant, but there are drawbacks - that is why you don't see them except on specific applications.
With the extremely limited info presented to the forum in this instance, how can one make the call ???? - however, a properly sized cap tube or TXV WILL be the way to go.

I have an old dehumidifier that freezes up every now & then and a used aev from an air drier, ive been wanting to put it in but never seem to find the time, i wonder if it would help solve the freeze up problem ,present system is cap tube, no humidistat, runs constant.
