Need info if anyone has dealt with the Mitsubishi mini splits that allow you to
heat in some areas & cool other areas at the same time from the same unit
with up to 8 zones ? My parents are building a new home & are wanting info on reliability ,noise, warranty issues, parts availability & so on. These are heat pumps & apparently new to market. The older ones had a limited # of zones
(2 or 3). Also want to know if perhaps Sanyo or others have a comparable unit.
Thanks for input.

That would be a full VRV city multi system.Unless you have real money I doubt you'd realistically consider it.
However contact Mitsubishi USA and ask them for an accredited installer.

The system you are talking about is called City-Multi and the smallest capacity units are 96K i believe.
This system is only designed for Commercial use but I guess if you had a huge home that needed this you could make it work
But as previously said it is BIG$$$$

Check out Daiken Products. They have systems that also heat and cool in the same operation.

Mitsubishi does make a smaller version of the city multi for large residential but you better have deep pockets.

just wondering what kind of a house you are building where you will need the ability to heat certain areas while cooling others.........
i've only seen this done in commercial applications

Thanks to all for the input, My Stepfather went to a seminar by Mitsubishi I believe, & this is where he learned of the residential models. He has been doing HVACR work since I was a kid, just not internet savvy & unable to find a lot answers without someone having a financial interest. This will be their home to retire in - upfront cost is of lesser concern than comfort/reliability/efficiency. I believe the house will be a little over 6500 sq' of conditioned space.
They have worked for years to keep others comfortable & both have decided that it is there turn to be comfortable. They each run at different temperatures.
Will look into Daikin also.
Yes, Slimwoodie it's been years for me also.

Go check out Daikin as they make ducted residential equipment.

They are on par price wise with Trane/ Carrier high efficiency.
I have been told that because they are a full modulation system, they reduce operating costs about 40%. Sounds like a lot, but with full modulation, that makes sense.
We have sold some for retrofit on homes and some new construction new residential and all owners are very happy.
We did a 18k sq foot building last year and they monitored it for 3 months last summer. They averaged $65.00 per day to cool the space for June, July and August and claimed to have very little humidity.
This is in the DFW area of Texas and it is kinda of humid here in the Summer.
