ok, I'm leaving for my KY journeymans exam in 30 minutes. Can anyone give me the quick equation for determining what size furnace per sq ft of the house? According to my book, cooling can be done quickly by 1 ton per 400 sq ft (1 cfm per foot). Is this correct also? I don't need to go into manual j or anything, just something quick for the exam.

You won't get any rule of thumb from this site.

And no, 400 sq per ton is not right.

Why would you think the journeyman test will ask to inaccurately guess the size of a building?

... quick equation for determining what size furnace per sq ft of the house?

10 to 30 BTU per sq. ft. depending on locale ( FL or MN )
and construction ( 1850 or 2007 )
