Would it be wise to replace the AC unit at the same time as the furnace? My current unit is a coleman about 13 to 14 years old. Never have had a problem with it unlike my furnace. Does the same apply for AC units installation, installation, installation. Or does specfic brands more reliable
Thanks

If it is in the budget, then yeah. I think they should both be replaced at the same time. Yes, installation is the key with either heat or a/c. With some products you can get a full 10 year warranty on the entire install. The dealer will provide the best fit for your home and needs. If it was me and I could afford it I would do both at the same time. Good luck, and remember, it's all about the installation, not the brand.

Use the search function on thjis site ,search on Infinity, see what other homeowners think of this system, then tell us if you think there's a difference in products.

Install and design is important too.

What does that have do with his/her question? I could have told him to buy Trane, but how the hell does that relate the question?

I'm ok with that, but at least answer the question. Don't just say BUY CARRIER! I have pride in my brand too but c'mon. These homeowners are looking for info, not looking for which brands we like/sell. Am I wrong?

The OP stated "Does the same apply for AC units installation, installation, installation.",and I disagree, plus I think the number of homeowners on this site that "LOVE" their Infinities supports my position. That's how the hell it has to do with his/her posting!!!lol!!

So this was the question. What exactly did I miss that warranted a search for carrier equipment? If all you were talking about was one product more reliable than another, than that's a debate that will go on forever. I'm sure that I, as you can, can give hundreds or thousands of people who like one brand over another. I just don't get why your answer is too search for Carrier equipment.

And back to the question...
If your installation tech tells you the system is performing well and in good shape, AND your money is tight, I'd leave it. You might consider replacing just the evaporator coil, as that would be less expensive to replace during the furnace install. Then you can replace the outdoor unit separately if and when it fails.
Normal life of an a/c unit isn't much more than you already have. So you are gambling to keep it. What's your risk level?

It's possible to replace your furnace without replacing your A/C. When you do replace your A/C, you will need to replace your evaporator coil since your old one is less than today's 13 seer minimum. Total labor for the change out will be more if you do it in two steps.

Heat pump & dual fuel system should be investigated
if you wish to address your long term needs and operating co$ts.

Do it Right the 1st Time. In other words, PLAN with all features on your Wish List considered and cost e$timates evaluated.

Again, here's one of the things the OP asked.
" Does the same apply for AC units installation, installation, installation."

This is why I suggested he look at what other homeowners think of their systems.

I didn't say one brand is more reliable then another, though that may be the case.

I don't believe that homeowner should decide soley on the "quality" of the install,I think some brands have better features and benefits.
