I am looking for a replacement solenoid (4040) for an Aprilaire series 500 humidifier. The new replacement part is about half the cost of a new unit. Anyone know where to find a used part in good condition?

Whats wrong with the valve?
Does it still click?
I see these things get replaced all the time only to find out it is simply cloged with dirt;)

I have routinely cleaned the valve to avoid that problem. But the last time I stripped the plastic threads. It would be ideal if I could just find a new plastic piece because the rest of the solenoid valve is ok. Maybe that's why the newer valves are all metal.

install an inline ice maker type waterfilter and just change that when you have no waterflow, stripped plastic threads are a problem. luck dan
