Dear fellows:

I just got in charge of a low temperature R-22 Tyler rack refrigeration system. It has 8 parallel compressors. All of them have factory supplied suction line cartridge filters. Do I need to change them periodically, or they are installed only to get rid of the debris left during the initial installation? Also, each system is connected to the suction manifold by an evaporator pressure regulator valve. How do these valves lubricate, if most of the oil goes back to the compressors through an oil return system. It does not recirculates.
Thank you.

There are different theories on suction filters.
Wal-Mart will remove them completly after a period after start-up. Others would like replacement.

As far as oil in the E.P.R.s , don't worry , the oil will still get there.

oil makes it way thru both its oil system and suction.the separator gets most of the oil but some will still get by and return the old fashion way. Ive seen some older triton racks (dual-mates) that would dump from the separator directly into the suction header which was pictched to an oil return distributor feeding each compressor. we generally remove the suc filters after instillation is finished. good luck
