How's this for weird.
I'm make enough at my present job, that I can't find another company that can match what I'm making, so I'm basically stuck! Truly ironic, I think.
The job I'm at pays pretty good, but honestly, they don't need someone with my experience to do the job they want done, they way they want it done.
In looking around for a job that will better utilitize my skills & experience, the stumbling block is my hourly rate.
I never thought I would be saying such a thing, but I make too much to get a better more satisfying job.

Money isn't everything. Happiness is more important.

Hey Tech, sometimes it does get slow and there is not much service unless you are not getting your fair share of the service work. I know that feeling. Not being able to do what you want or what you are good at. I remember someone else posting an answer to one of my inquiries termed it as being "Pigeon holed". Hit the nail on the head.

One alternative might be a willingness to become your own boss. You will make less at the front end, but if you have the right personality and training, you may be able to make it work for you, and be more satisfied. You could very well make more money after you are up and running. It isn't for everyone, though.

Mike-
What is your experience, and how much do you make? Have you looked into other parts of the country? Here in Colorado demand is high and the pay is pretty good
