What sort of split temps should a HO typically expect from a xl14i running in cooling mode after approx 15 minutes w/VS. I've heard 20F split is norm but is 25F split bad especially with medium load for Phx, AZ?

I would high splits in AZ because there is less latent load.

Unfortunately, you can't predict the split without knowing the entering evaporator wet bulb, outdoor dry bulb, and exact model numbers. You also have to know the air flow.

It all depends on the air flow and operating conditions, both inside and outside. Also, in enhanced mode you are running low air flow to start, then after 8.5 minutes the air flow reaches 100% and the temperature drop will drop. :-)

It's not unusual to get 20-23 during 3/4 speed.
System can be set for 350cfm per ton or 400cfm per ton, and other variances can change that.

After 8.5 minutes I think Trane VS running in enhanced mode goes to full speed?

System is a three ton R22 with a TWE037E13 running medium speed w/enhanced mode enabled.

Splits were taken after 15 minutes of cooling but it sounds pretty normal as everything else seems ok besides the shutdown odor below. ( thought it might be related to high split temps? )
