Well, here the scenerio lady needs new a/c electric bills really high. Total electric home.

1) Measure home, insulation in attic is R19 has fair windows.
2) She wants a/c moved to other side of home.
3) Wants 15 or 16 S.E.E.R. Unit
4) Ductwork fair large ceiling returns 20x20 [14"] and 20x25 [16"]

Amana 16*
Amana Variable Drive air handler
Amana 16* Heat Pump
Amana 4" Pleated filter

Trane 15i
Bid by another company; but I also bid it cheaper.

Carrier Infinity Air handler
Carrier Infinity series Heat Pump 16*
Carrier Controller
Carrier media filter

All systems bid with new copper line-set and new disconnect fused to new location.

Which system would you choose. I like Carrier new Infinity , and like the Amana air handler.

Since you didn't list trane 16 as an option, I would go with Infinity system. Have installed several Bryant evolution systems(same thing)and like them a ton. Set up, diagnostics, commissioning, and operation of the system are second to none with the Infinity.

Good question.

The Infinity would be fun to play with but for the average homeowner, they probably could care less for most of what it can do. I do like the idea of the 50/100% staging of the Carrier.

They could achieve some nice comfort with the Amana system and a Vision Pro IAQ as well. Amana's warranties beat Carrier's. You been selling some Amanas these days AC?

I don't see the point in the single stage Trane.

Carrier Infinity is the best. Infinity stat, ECM motor it the best thing out there right now. There might be a rebate and tax credit on this equipment.

We sell Amana & Trane and with Amana's recent warranty's and pricing they have just about stopped the Trane dead and knocked it off it's tracks. Heck even the Amana/Goodman G series units now have a 10 warranty. The lifetime compressor warranty on the 410 systems is impressive. Most people will move and not use the warranty but their perceived value is more versus trane units. You can have trouble out of any of them, especially if not installed correctly.

Yeah,yesterdays ECM motor ,great system.

BFD the difference in the motors will never be noticed by the homeowner but they will notice when that Carrier coil leaks in two years.

Infinity has the 2.5 version ECM,other brands are still trying to figure it out, after 2 years. What can be done is superior and the coil cliam is total ,crap/misdirection,IMHO.

Those that have Carrier install it those that don't make BS claims!!!LOL

Dash not a misdirection claim very well documented and not just by me. I have been approached numerous times by Carrier to sell their product in fact have been offered several different sales jobs by Carrier.

I prefer Amana products have for more than 17 years. I have replaced more Carrier coils less than 10-years old than every other brand combined. You cannot dispute that period. Waiting to see if the tin coating fixes their problem we will see.

I have worked on numerous Infinity systems because most of the companies around here that install them don't have a clue how to set them up or properly charge them. I can also say the same about Amana, Lennox and Trane systems.

Here's what Carrier sees,1/3 third of coils tested on return,do not leak.

Here's what we see,we have two shops ,50 miles apart, the southern one,we more Trane coils fail, the northern one, more Rheem coils fail.

The southern one ,trane is the leader in RNC(residentisl new construction),in the northern one Rheem is the RNC leader, after Carrier.

Our latest report from Carrier shows we have 2013 Carrier 10 year parts and labor extended warrantues, with 9 coil replacements.
