Ok i've used 66 with great sucess (low temp apps.) and hot shot for med. temp apps..... how does 409a seem to work. Never used it but I was givin a 30 pounder so I may start using or I just might sell it based on responce.

Use it almost every day. It works well for any R12 retrofit med or low temp. Mp66 is just low temp. Does run higher head then R12 but they all do. A real hot kitchen may give you problems but again no system likes a hot kitchen. I have so many tanks on the truck now I have to try and limit what I use.

So I use 409 most often, mp39 and 134 if its already in the system, R408 for low temp retrofit. Most newer stuff has 404 so you need that, r22 and 410. Plus recovery tanks. Never used hot shot, did carry r416 for a while runs much lower head but had to keep inventory down so that one went.

409 works great for medium temp applications. It will run 15-20 PSI higher head and have capacity equal to or slightly higher than R-12.

In low temperature apps it will not have near the capacity that R-12 did. It will do better than 416 or Hotshot at low temp, but still nothing to brag about. Doubtful that you'll see below 10-15* and discharge temperature can be an issue.

Better stick with MP-66 in the freezers.

I have had no problem acheving 0 or below with any 409 applications that I have. Maybe I am just lucky.
