View Full Version : hoshi cleaning brush?
I cleaned a Hoshi ice machine with 6 distributor tubes. The cleaning tubes never really got as clean as I would have liked them to be. Is there a 3/8 dia brush that is maybe 3' long? Where can I get one for the future?

take a look at the dryer lint brush here (http://www.brushtechbrushes.com/index.php?cPath=2&osCsid=1de163de0fc889fbde7c06607c928d3c)30", we sell these at work (true value). you can buy it online or find someone who sells them. i think they're about a 1/2" diameter.

A shot gun cleaning kit, say 16 or 12 guage bristle brush. Or a shell & tube kit with a 1/2" bristle brush fit at the end.

Those will do nicely. Thanks. I'll go by True Value tomorrow.

One of our techs was raving about how great his toilet brush was for a hoshizaki at a very important customer. I've have been asked not to send him back again. I also told him to keep the plastic wrapper handy, and don't leave it unattended near the bathroom.

hoshizaki sells a square brush for the evap sections, fits each section perfectly -- for the water tube, stop in the supply house and look at the different styles they have -- you want something kinda cone shaped at one end to get the 4 corners of the inside, but square at the fatter end to brush that side -- use the small hole to push in the brush,, the tips clean the far end, the flat gets the close end -- you wont find perfection, and youll find many older hoshi's out there with at least some build up in the inside corners - hoshi knows about it, but figure it a small price to pay for the efficiency they get from the overall tube -- if the buildup becomes too much,, sell new ones
NEVER be seen by the health dept with a toilet brush inside an ice machine, i dont care where you keep it ---- i know some owners that wouldnt be too happy to see it either

The local Johnstone carries a brush I have used for years on Hoshi. Goes through the distribution manifolds nicely. In tight clearances I bend the wire over 90 degrees so I can get the evap too. I use tooth brushes fro the front of the evap and hard to get places.

To clean Hoshi water distribution tubes I just pull them out and immerse them in a large dishpan with a cheap acid solution (muriatic) and leave them for ten minutes or so and they come out looking like new. You just have to shake out the bits of broken grid plastic and whatever else got pumped up there.
