make sure that you don't have a station selected as Auto start (or indeed running) in the 522 environment.
Go to Start/Programs/Niagara <release e.g. 511> and run 'Install Niagarad'. This should install the console of the selected release. You can switch this but I find it better to do this with no JDE running. The same applies between R2 and AX.
I also sometimes have to shut niagarad down in Windows Task Manager under the 'Processes' Tab
Niagarad is the platform service and is release specific.

If you are running multiple versions of JDE on one PC and need to open a different version of the Admin Tool than is currently running, perform the following steps:
Launch the Console application for the version of JDE that you wish to run by clicking Start, Programs, Niagara x.xxx.xxx (Where: x.xxx.xxx represents the version you wish to start), and Console. The Niagara Command Line Application opens.
At the command prompt, type: admininstall install /start and press the Enter key. If this is done correctly, the following two messages display in the console window:
Niagara Service Successfully Installed
Niagara Service Successfully Started
Repeat Steps 1 and 2 each time you want to change the version of JDE running on your PC.
To verify which version of the Admin Tool is currently running on your PC, perform the following steps:
Open the Admin Tool using one of the shortcuts in the program group or on your desktop.
Open your localhost station by right clicking in the station column, or selecting File then Open.
In the Connect to Host dialog box, type localhost.
At the username and password prompt, type your local PC user name and password, and then click OK to open the station.
The Niagara Release on the Summary Tab indicates the version of the Admin Tool that is currently running.
