I powered down a Summit Panel today to reinstall the modem card that had been removed previously. When I powered back up, the Comm5 communication to 1 0f 2 MP581's was lost. I ended up having to unassign and reassign the Nueron ID to get it too communicate.
I was told the Summit probably lost the binding because it only has a standard capacity card and needs a Hi capacity card added. The hi capacity card is pricey, so I'd like to get opinions from this forum.
TIA,

Make sure tracer-summit has all service packs and BCU has the latest image and most likely you'll be OK. do not add the card, for the price of the card, trane has some kind of promotion, they can upgrade BCU

I just read in the Program.PDF that the BMTW BCU stores it's Comm5 database only in RAM. When I re-started the BCU, I cleared the database as I have been instructed to do in the past to help with other problems. Could this have removed only one Comm5 MP581 from the RAM database?
And where do I check the BCU image?

If you did clear database RAM and reset BCU it should not affect the LON database in the BCU. There is a difference how LON database is stored when the BCU has High capacity card and when it does not, and if you have really big number of LON devices on the link it is better to have high capacity card, my understanding you have few devuces. Also it might take 15-20 min after you reset BCU to get comm with LON devices, all the time you see rapid flashes by LON bus - do not bother opening LON devices. But as I told it is a lot more critical to have all updates on the tracer and latest image on the BCU.

Status tab; objects and properties; Device; BCU (whatever the name is, BCU-1); and select firmware revision.
