Do most of you business owners and tech's work on about everything you can? When I did refrigeration back in the day, we did everything from racks, RTU's, resturaunt tables/back room shelving, bathroom hand dryers and so-forth. Do most of like working on all that equipemt? I think it's kind of a given isnt it? "A Refrigeration tech, works on every-and-anything?" I was just wondering what all of you do at work - I'm new to this site and kind of miss refrigeration. So I thought I would jump in.

Thank you

I do only refrigeration, light commercial. Not only I get away with it a lot of people like the idea of calling a specialist rather than a jack of all trades. And as a one man operation it's much easier this way.Much more efficient.(I am quite capable of doing hvac but I purposely turn them down )

I'd really like to say that I do only markets. I'd be lying. Half the time I'm a Plumber, Electrician, Counselor, Salesman, Politician.

I am still a rookie, going into my 5th year in the trade but so far I work on A/C's, heat pumps, Exhaust fans, make up air units, swamp coolers, Ice machines, furnaces, walk-ins, reach ins. Have n't gotten into chillers or supermarkets yet.Maybe later as my knowledge grows:)

Because of our location, we are forced to do just about all of it. I get frustrated if I have to run 3 or 4 no heat calls, and then drop everything and head to the grocery store and work on a refrigeration system. I wish I could specialize, but I would starve. If you live in larger metro areas, I think it's easier to pick and choose your work.

I do residential and commercial service and installation, mainly forced air with some boilers hither and thither. I dont do frigy work because I never got into it and because I hate the greasy floors and roaches not to mention all the arabs that want to barter for your services.

Refrigeration only, if it heats we dont touch it, if it cools air for the comfort of people or animals, we don't touch it.

KISS it!

I do heat, air, and refrigration.
What kills me is when the HO gets me there and wants a 3-for-1.
I went on an icemaker call a few days ago. After I had diagnosed the fridge he was like oh yea by the way my t-stat is messing up. Put a new stat on and he was like oh yea you mind looking at my washing machine, its leaking.
Charge 3 service calls? I didnt. Maybe I should im not sure. HO gets me for 1 hour with a service call after that its hourly. How does everyone else handle this?

Refer dude here no A/C. If it's warm it gets chilled. If it's chilled it gets frozen. If the floors are greasy on goes the hockey skates.:rolleyes

I've done large tonnage machines (chillers), splits, package (water cooled, air cooled, glycooled) etc etc. I've recently got into doing freezers, coolers etc. with no harsh learning curve. Controls might get a little funky in regards to building management systems and those " just get it going" tech fixes:D . Specialized? nah, if you get it going your better than the guy who made the call:)
