I have a site that is running R2.301.431 and i'm told that the site would have to be upgraded to 522 for the new daylight savings times to be correct,i'm wondering if anyone out there is using time sync. service on the web supervisor to sync. up the jaces thus avoiding the upgrade? Also im not to experianced with upgrades and am leary of it is it hard to do? T.I.A.

I know this answer is probably too late, but I am using the time sync on an AX system. I have a Jace without the web ui and a Supervisor. The time sync worked great.

I tried manually updating the timezone file, but it still didn't work. I followed the directions from Tridium, but still wound up correcting them manually Monday morning.

bobbym,

I am running time sync service and have them looking at the supervisor for syncing. I, like you was hoping that it would be a nice work around but found out that its not. When you force a time sync it reverts back to the old time even though the supervisor time is correct with all patches to XP and the nist.gov update on. It appears that the time sync service works on the GMT formula and reverts right back to the old time.
I disabled my time sync service for now and just changed the time manually until the rev upgrade gets a few more of the bugs worked out before I leap head first into it.

Hope this helps,

Bodeen

The time sync service is receiving GMT, then the JRE looks at the "time zone" you have chosen during set-up and calculates the "local time" based on this.

If you live in an area that observes DST, the JRE then adds or subtracts this variable to come up with the local time adjusted for this.

This is a standard methodology used by the IT world for PC"s as well.

If the only objects using the local time in your station are the standard schedule objects, then editing your "time zone properties" file will work just fine.

Given your scenario, couldn't you set your Jace boxes to a time zone that does NOT observe DST ? Then when the time synch occurs it would not add or subtract from the time sent from the supervisor ??
Just curious if this would work, I have a similar site that I have postponed upgrading also.
