I heard some body talking about glueing PVC pipe and they said you should cut a bevel in the end of the pipe tapering it from the outside to the inside so that the glue is spread even over the surface of the pipe inside the joint. Has anybody else heard of this?

The only time I've seen it is one of our installers uses a chop saw to cut his (which works quite well) and he bevels it, more so to debur then seal...

I don't think you accomplish anything on small pvc by beveling the end. But on large pvc pipe, beveling the end sure makes it a whole lot easier getting it to slide into the fittings.

Three plumbers (all related to each other) that work for me do that on every fitting they put together. I am with chillbrig...big pipe I understand, small pipe, dont know. But they do some of the best show piping I have ever seen.

I do it on all my condensate lines.... ok... no I don't lol
I know it's the "right" way to do it, but I'd say on pipe 4" and smaller it's probably not a big deal.
