Wish me luck!

I will be over there for 1 to 2 weeks converting a 19DG from R-11 to R-123.

When I get back I will post lots of pix & give plenty of details.:D

Not that it really matters but why would you convert that vintage unit. why not replace it?
*Read the MSDS sheet for R123 you are going to grow a third ball.*< LOLOLOLOLOLOL

Capetown is possibly the most beautiful place in the world (depends on perspective). Very reasonable cost of living, great food, fine local wines, lovely ladies. ;)

Take the camera for sure.

Did I mention it may be the longest flight, too. Probably 24 hrs +/-.

I'd be glad to tote your tools and watch yer back for expenses. ;)

Seems like a giant waste of time and $$$ converting a chiller like that to R123. Additionally, R11 is available and decent prices, so why covert in the 1st place? Oh well, guess you like to travel.

Its called giving the customer what they want, also, R-11 is not as available in this part of the world.

Job is going well so far, people here are very nice & you gotta love that currency exchange rate.

You're in THE Gold and Diamond mine !

Wine, beef, Fish are excellent values there. Fresh air ! (Ask the locals about the Cape Doctor).

Do you have Google Earth available? Check out the area around the near Southern Coast (post pics). :)

What building are you working on? Hotel, shopping center, high rise?

Man I wish I had my next call in South Africa, or just about anywhere except a war zone. I love to travel when it's paid for.

Slimwoodie, that's pretty rude if you ask me.

No ...try Dangerous

from the Red Cross travel alert

"paste"

The HIV/AIDS pandemic remains a global disaster. Africa (SSA) harbours nearly 65% of the estimated 40.3 million people living with HIV/AIDS in the world in 2005. in most of SSA, transmission has not abated.

is the Red Cross .. rude in making this Travel Advisory ..??

Fact

There's a lot more to South Africa than the local "talent", as you called it.

For the most part anyway:

I had plenty of local help & everything went very fast.

Parts were sent ahead of me, local mechanics disassembled machine & motor re-dip was complete when I arrived, all we had to do was put the beast together.

Started the machine fri afternoon, ran like a champ.

Today (sat) I will start it up again to get several logs on it & monitor ops closely, make adjustments, etc.

Can't send any pix yet as I'm still in Cape Town sitting in an internet cafe waiting fo my "Lift", as the locals like to call it, I would call it a taxi or cab, here its a lift.

So is an elevator, its a lift as well.

Flash light is torch.

Jumper is bridge.

Bypass timer is anti flutter timer.

Its been very interesting working with other people in another country.

I fly back mon evening.

P.S.

I should have learned the metric system when I was in school.:D
