Hmmm, that in itself sounds like a thread that would get some support.

My thoughts: Look at the Patriot Act. It was something like 720+ pages, and it appeared not long after 9-11. It was passed almost unanimously by both houses of Congress within a few days... :eek: Now tell me that each of the 535 elected officials read the thing cover to cover and carefully analyzed it for the better good of their district.... NOT

In the Patriot act, if certain government law enforcement agencies (all of them federal btw) decide you are a terrorist, they can just 'say so' with no legal action what-so-ever. You then automatically have NO constitutional rights. You can be locked up with no contact with anyone (including an attorney) for an indefinite period of time. It has actually happened in this country to native born citizens of numerous races. Wonder why that has not been front page news??? I guess the news media really is not that interested in citizen's rights...

My thoughts: I was taught in school that parts of the constitution and parts of the bill of rights were to protect the citizens from the government as well as from other citizens that would choose to do them harm.

Now if you still blindly trust the government think about this: Have you ever gotten a traffic ticket from an officer that obviously was working on his/her quota rather than looking out for public safety.

Government corruption is on the rise. But it has been so for decades. It is NOT a repub or dem issue, it is a citizen's issue. That means that until we all choose to hold them (politicians) to task, we will continue to get the screws shoved deeper and deeper.

One day, we are going to wake up and realize that we are no better off than the peasants of a third world country. Will it be too late to reverse this mess... I hope not... :(
