We recently picked up a couple of building with JCI NCMs and UNTs and VAVs.
I picked up a copy of M-Tools and have tried to connect to building a couple of ways.
First I tried to go through the NCM using hyper terminal and both a null modem cable and a normal 9 to 9 cable. No luck. My reading tells me that the NCM had to be setup in a particular way for that to work. I then read how HVAC-Pro can connect using a RS-232 to RS-485 converter. I have a 485CARLP9A that I use with Carriers stuff. I found the data sheet for this and made up a cable for +, - and ref. I connected to the N2 bus at the NCM. In HVAC Pro there is Controller Information tab that brought me through to scan all addresses for devices. I never picked up a single control. I changed baud rate, XON-XOFF to Hardware and back again. I used the CCN driver for the converter and used the default standard windows driver. Nothing!
Any suggestions?
Thanks

Yes,

You need to either buy the CVT-PRO kit which has the correct converters and patch cables or buy this special one that a guy from China sells on Ebay for about $ 100.00.

I'ved used a B&B 485CARL which works to access the N2 bus. You must have something set incorrectly or wired incorrectly. OK

OK,
Can you tell me your pin configuration and describe how you are connecting?
What comm port driver are you using?
Thanks

I have the B&B converter #485CARLP9A in my laptop with 9 pin serial port (com 1). I took a 6 pin phone wall jack and connected three wires to Com to red, N2- to yellow and N2+ to black. Connect a standard phone cord between the B&B 485CARL9A and the wall jack with the three wires connected to the JCI N2 plug from a controller. Use HVACpro search for devices via N2 bus. Nothing to complicated OK;)

Thanks OK,

That is pretty much what I did. I need to double check my wiring just to be sure.
