Coleman split heat pump. Heat mode cycles on hi pressure in about 15 seconds. normal suction pressure. Cool mode pressures are right. Airflow is correct. Nothing has changed. 10 year old system. All of the sudden. This is the 2nd coleman I have seen do that this year. piston indoor metering device and outside
Pro forum is better for this question.. TXV in the ODU ? Restriction restriction restriction. Nitrogen used during install ? if not.. I got ur answer.
sorry didn't see the piston ODU part. Scroll comp ? I can't really get more specific.. this forum doesn't allow for DIY

No TXV in system at all. 10 years old. Worked perfect till 2 weeks ago. How do you get to Pro forum i am new at this

Filter clean? Time for a service call.....could be a restriction, could be something else causing high pressure.

what is the suction pressure reading, how can it be (normal)?
if it has high head pressure?

50 degree day the suction pressure was around 50psi, head pressure goes out of sight in 15 seconds. It acts like an airflow issue but airflow is correct for 2.5 ton and nothing airflow wise has changed.

How do you know airflow s correct,no offense?

maybe some african porch monkeys decided to breed in your duct work,so the put a door in your duct to stop the cold air from hitting them

See if anybody has ran into the particular problem below. I have twice. 10-12 year old Coleman split heat pump. Heat mode cuts out on high pressure in about 30 seconds. Cool mode pressures are normal for a 60degree day. No refrigerant has been added to either system since installation. Basically have to add R-22 for A/C mode and remove in the winter time. Sounds like an airflow issue due to extremely high head pressure in the winter time. If I recover freon to decent heat mode pressures when I switch to cool mode pressures way too low. Bad part is nothing has changed at Air Handler on either system. Filter is clean, Indoor coil is clean, Blower wheel cups are clean. Kinda tricky. A couple of people have mention metering device problem but I dont see it. Any suggestions???????
what do you mean you dont see metering device prob

I have approx 950 cfm. I mean it doesnt sound like a metering device problem because my suction pressure is accurate for the conditions in heat mode but my head is way too high but I could be wrong.

Since no DIY allowed can't go into detail, register as a pro and post in the tech forum. Sounds like a stuck check valve on the high side or restriction.
