I'm looking for opinions on these two units being hooked up to a Bryant (probably bottom of the line) gas furnace. House is only a few months old. Located in the Seattle area and I'm just looking for the best way to keep it cool during the summer with the least amount of issues...

First we need to compare apples to apples.
Lennox
13ACX Merit Series R-410A Builders unit
XC-13 Elite Series R-410A
AC-13 Elite Series R-22
All 13 SEER
I will let the Trane experts chime in on the XL-14

It's an Elite series with the R-410A. Although the salesman tells me it can reach as high as 14 seer.

I don't have the time to surf through the ARI ratings right now, but yea with a variable speed furnace or air handler is my guess.
On your builders Bryant, most likely 13 SEER.

Cool, that's what I kinda figured. Up to don't mean a thing, just a sales pitch...

As I pointed out to the OP in another forum, the XL14i will only get 13 SEER without a matched Trane variable speed blower. I see no problem putting either unit with his Bryant if blower capability matches up. Just so he isn't expecting 14 SEER from the model #.
