Alright-
I just moved into this house last night the heater has been working just great and then this morning I woke up to 54 degrees in the house brrr. So anyways I went and got a honeywell digital thermostat and got that all coneccted right everything starts up fine. The reason i got the new one was because the old on was not starting the furnace up. So here I am now I can get the furnace to push air but it is cold. I have tried the instructions on the furnace waiting 5 minutes. I also pulled out the ignitor and sanded it down with sand paper to clean it off and also got a new filter. This unit is about 5-6 years old. So I can smell the gas and the ignitor trying to start but nothing goes. Does anyone have any more suggestions???
Ryan
Also just wanted to add I am not leaking gas from when I can smell it.

Does it have a hot surface ignitor or is it direct spark

Stop and call a service tech. You've done all you can do.

Ok, sounds like you have an ignition/control voltage problem. That's it in very general terms, but telling anything more would be DIY, and against the rules. Please call a Pro for safety sake!

After loooking at the ignitor it is cracked and badly burnt up and I am sure this is the problem. I am going to have my cousin who is HVAC certified come put this in where can i buy a new one does wal mart have these?

If Wal-mart sold them, the world would be in trouble! That's supply house and should be done by the tech.

The way this industry is going it probably will soon.

Call a qualified company.

Home depot tried it, and is giving up, so I doubt walmart will try it.

Isn't Johnstone and Wal-mart the same thing? Also use steel wool on the ignitor.
