View Full Version : How long for a DUI to clear?

Got word that I was turned down for a job because of a DUI I had a few years ago. I got it on Jan. 1 2002. Went to court in June 2003. Only one I've ever had.

I was wondering if any of you guys knew how long it took for it to clear the insurance companies higher rates.

Next time I'll offer to pay the extra myself.

i dont think a dui comes off your record anymore
but it use to be like 7 yrs

i believe its 3 years but it stays on your record forever and there are company's that will look at you as a high risk employee after just one DUI

I think GA has a five year deal.
You don't want to get two within a five
year period.
So, after five years and let's just say
you got another one, it would be considered
a first offense, penalty wise.
They would bring your previous up in court
for the jury to know about.
Five years and it should go away for insurance
purposes.
As usual, this is just my opinion.

Also has alot to do with the insurance company that the employer uses.
The one I use only goes back 5 years.
Any DUI within 5 years, no hire.
Points over 4 in 5 years, you're pushing it.

Three years here in Ohio, but I believe it stays on your record.

Most insurance companies go back three years on moving violations and five years on any alcohol related offenses(open bottle, DUI) or careless or reckless driving. DUI's stay on your record for 10 years here "officially" I believe. The whole on or off your record thing is not an issue anymore. Every since 9-11 and the Patriot Act any law enforcement agency can see all your records there was ever a computer file on including juvenille.
