I am setting up a new walk in freezer,
10hp low temp discuss, 52,000 btu, r404.
Anyone think I should install a Heat exchanger ?
I see them time to time in some systems, but have no clue why it should be there.
Any benefits? will the system run better? Waste of time?

If you have enough subcooling from you condenser on a hot summer day....then no. If you want to insure you have solid column of liquid to your txv and a prayer of good superheat then install it.

That'd be my call.

A heat exchanger will give you less flash gas in the evaporator and therefore, slightly more capacity. But it adds superheat to the suction vapor. So, there is no net efficiency gain. The only advantage is that it may help prevent bubbles in the liquid line and floodback in the suction line.
