I am needing to reset the vsd on a YK centrifugal, however I do not have the code. If anyone knows it please divulge it, even if you want to email me to keep it confidential. I know how "secret" these things seem to be, but I really need it. Thank you in advance.

So TNTECH...
If someone wanted to offer you the code that you've asked for in confidence, they would have to ASK YOU for an email address and thus become well... the guy who copped the code...
I will try and get you a code tomorrow, but by GAWD don't tell anyone it came from me. I don't wanna be known as the code snitch..

Remember to reset it often! I will be happy give you a quote to rebuild your compressor or replace the bad drive. I love to see people asking for passwords. As a matter of fact I think all the manufactures should give out every password. I could probably retire early. :D

I would greatly appreciate any help you could offer Tex-n-oz. Apparently some of the other techs are going to be anal about offering someone the "magic code." Heaven forbid they help someone!!

Getting the password or code is no big deal, there are plenty of people on here that will give it to you or you could get a copy of the IOM.
What kind of trouble are you having?
Has this happened before? (History)
Are you the operator? Jr tech? Sr tech? Janitor? Groundskeeper? Some kid at a highschool trying to pull a prank? A disgruntled employee?
If you tell us a little about the trouble your having we can help you do more than reset it or atleast guide you in the right direction.

Reset the VSD?....did it, or does it have a fault now? What type of fault needs to be reset?

I am a BTJ service technician in my local union. I have an IOM manual with basic passwords, however there is apparently a service book on just the vsd that has a greater access password to reset VSD. I am working on a one line panel, not the newer optiview. The machine learns over time how to most efficiently operate on motor speed and prv position. If something with the motor or prvs goes bad you can reset the VSD to relearn motor speed vs. prv position for max efficiency. I know several YORK codes but not this one. That is what I am trying to procure.

So your looking for the code to clear the BRAM?
tntech
02-24-2007, 09:50 PM
If that is what it is called then yes. I am not sure if that is what needs to be cleared though is it, or is it?

The BRAM holds the surge mapping. That is the code you will need.

Whats your email address?

Why would you need to clear it? if you know why it needs to be cleared then you should know the password.

My e-mail is in my profile. Thank you for being willing to help. These codes are apparently like rare jewels.

You've got mail!!!
It's more than the code, it's a procedure. As far as why to reset the mapping, If your tower had issues, and your condensing water temperature started to rise, it would map that as surge points and eventually never allow the drive to slow down to stay out of surge. By resetting the BRAM, you allow the psuedo "Fuzzy Logic" to remap the surge points.

Not ture!
If your towers/water had issues this is NOT a normal condition. So any surge map points made during that abnornal condition would be valid. once the condition is corrected the unit/drive would not see that same condition so your drive would operate just fine and reduce speed. Now if the same issue with the towers/water where to happen again instead of having to go into surge condition and then map that point a second time the ACC board can just avoid the surge like is was ment to do. So clearing a surge map becuase you had a tower/water issue is bogus! In the future when the retard operator happens to notice the compressor is not reducing speed he can call you to look at the chiller at which point you can show him the abnormal operating condition and look like a hero. Or you can keep reseting the surge map because you didn't read the service manual.

Original problem was that the PRV arm came off for some time, not sure how long and the unit was mapping surge points all that time. This would allow for some crazy mapping points for however long it was down. Once arm reconnected reset and now mapping with correct operating components

3780 for access, 0368 to reset the surge map.
And that's why we bought 5 new Carrier 19XRV's...:D

I wouldn't brag about bying Carrier Units. I have rebuilt/service 19DGs and worked on thier aircooled screws, a few ABSs and a few recip chillers. From what I have seen they are nothing but junk! I don't know about the newer products but the controls packages blows!! single line displays or two digit codes to tell you whats going on or you have to plug in a service tool to get that one line display. Next On the Aircooled screws that stupid ( looks like a induce draft motor off a residental furnace ) prelube oil pump on the screws is just plane crap. On some of thier recip Oil diff switches were options and not standard. It looks like Carrier went to a local supply house grabbed a bunch of parts and built thier chillers with them. If I was Carrier I would give you the service Passwords too cause it looks like they need as many people as possible fixing that tinker toy crap they call chillers. :)

HAHAHA Sic em Chiller!!
I have to agree that Carrier had a bad run but things seem to be looking up a bit. The CCN is still crap though. Doesn't look like it's coming up to speed anytime soon. BTW sorry tntech. I forgot all about ya until tonight but it looks like someone's hooked you up.
