im totally new to this control system. but im a student and now need to complete it in my project...
i have tried to read the ddc.online site. but there's really something that i feel so confused in the system architecture part...
1.whats the difference between comminucations interface, interface and gatway.?
2.why theres peer-to-peer and polling lan?

is that like groups of VAV control units should be in peer to peer network and it should be polling lan when connected to other equipments like fans?

3. im confused about what i really need to submit.. i wonder if the whole control system drawings should include such architecture layout and the details about how each equipments connect to each sensor?

hope someone can help me....and sorry if my english isnt good enough.

Let me try and help.

A communications interface is what you would plug a computer or operator work station to.

An interface would be a keypad or touchscreen directly connected to the system.

A gateway is a device that would convert 2 different protocols (Lon, Modbus, Bacnet, etc.) to allow cross protocol communictaions. Or 2 different medias (IP, MSTP, FTTP, PLC etc).

Peer to Peer is what most HVAC DDC manufacturers are either using or heading to, any controller can initiate communications and get information from another controller. Older systems use a polling type of communications where a "master controller" must initiate the communications and polls the sub controllers for information.

Hope that helps.
