anyone ever seen a gas pack, no gas no heat pump, ac only?

no the gas heater is in the house, the duct work goes through the foundation
outside to a self containted ac coil and compressor, which is very old and needs to be replaced, but the gas furnace inside is ok

seen those in a trailer house before. Gas furnace inside, packaged cooling unit outside.

makes sense, never seen one in a house.......do you know if anyone make them any more, checked with carrier and my other supplier

Sounds like you just need a package unit. Some brands require you order the heat strips separately - just skip the heat strips.
