no, its an older unit
but its got a txv on the indoor coil

i installed hundreds of the ruud split heat pumps from early 90s to present, and with that symptom that was the first thing i would check, in the heating mode the metering device on the o/d unit is the one that meters and if there is no flow ( restriction ) unit will pull down in vacuum, the reason it works in cooling is that the txv on the indoor coil meters in the cooling mode, hope this helps.

That said, you didn't post any real info for anybody to give you any real help.

It works in cooling isn't enough info.
