Hi,

Furnace Type: Gas
Make: American Standard
Mode: AUD080C936A
BUT: 80,000 BTU

I am having major problems with my furnace this winter!! It goes off some times. It just blows cold air, the gas inflow seems to be shutoff. The troubleshooting indicator has a continous blink.. probably one blink per sec.

How do I get the system out of "lockout"? This has happened before, and the gas flow is restored after a few hours, but not this time :-(

I have a 2 mth old infant in the house...

Thanks
Nick

In most cases locating the power switch near or attached to the furnace and turning it off for a moment and turning it back on will reset the lock-out process. Or turning the thermostat off from heat, then from off back to heat mode, may reset lock-out.
These things always seem to happen. Homeowner realizes they are having a problem with their furnace. Instead of calling a technician out on a inexpensive weekday they keep pushing it until the system finally goes out on the weekend, where the price for a tech to come out can double or triple.

Hopefully buy turning off and back on the power on your furnace this may reset the lock-out. If you haven't changed out the filter recently, replace that pronto!

AND AS SOON AS POSSIBLE CALL A LOCAL HVAC COMPANY TO GET OUT THERE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. Furnaces lock-out and blow cold air as a warning to you, as the homeowner, that there is something wrong and a qualified technician is required to make sure your system is running properly and safely.

With a young baby in the home I suggest to you and to everyone to install a carbon monoxide detector in your home, if one has'nt already been installed.

Please call a technician.

Nick you need to get a A/S service teck to your house . If the problem is not with the gas co. but the furance A pro is needed.. To restart the system simply turn off the switch and reengerize. It should start if not call the dealer.

Hi,

I have tried restarting multiple times. Off-On-Off-on within 30 sec as per user maual. Still no luck. The LED continues to blink (one per sec), the ignitor comes on, but no gas flow. The gas switch/know is in the "ON" position. The motor runs, and just blows cold air!!

A HVAC company is coming in the next 2 days to give me an esitmate for a new furnace (I am planning to get it replaced anyway). I just need something to get by for the next 2-3 days.

Please help..

Regards
Nick

Make sure the gas is on? Should be a ball valve of some sort next to the furnace (or at least pretty close to it) on the gas line. Make sure it's on...

Try some portable electric heaters in the rooms you need heat until someone qualified can look at your furnace.

You are putting your families lives at risk...

Call the company and ask them to help you out until the furnace can be replaced. Maybe they will credit a portion of repair off the price of the furnace.
