Anyone have any advice on getting on as a apprenticeship for Refrigeration or Air Conditioning.

3 employee at a company;

First employee has been working there 2 years still not an apprentice (but wants to be)
2nd employee has been working there only 3 months and got an apprenticeship (going to school etc)

3rd employee has been working there for 1 year told the boss wanted an apprenticeship if not he was leaving (he left)

Apprenticeships are gotton by ass kissing or by hard work being performed?

when would the General Manager send/ sign an employee up for an appretnticeship program?

I teach Refrigeration & Steamfitter apprenticeships.
Our process might be different.
1. Orientation & application.
2. General aptitude test
3. Interview

From 2 & 3 you will be ranked on a list.

Top of list goes first

Either you can work as a Pre-apprentice to prove youself (best way if you are a good worker) Contractor will sponser you if you do!

Or: Wait till a contractor requests an apprentice.

Good Luck!

sounds like typical southern ontario resi contractor, cheaper to keep helpers at low pay, than have apprentices and pay them accordingly
