Hi:

I am looking for a cooling and heating unit that can be attached to the back-side of a 7' H x 24' W x 1' D sheet metal cabinet. The back-side has the dimensions 7'H x 24'W. Here are the details:

1) I would like to run a closed loop air flow conduits out of this unit to 18 vertical cells (1'-4"W x 7' H x 1' D) that are segregated inside of this cabinet.

2) Each cell has a total inlet area of 0.56 sqrft and a total outlet area of 0.56 sqrft. Between the inlet and outlet are heat generating electronics. The exact heat generation is not known at this time, but I would like to provide forced convection cooling.

3) I'd like to maintain 60-80 degree F internal cabinet temperature while the cabinet is exposed to typical outdoor weather conditions.

4) The unit has to provide both cooling and heating.

Are there any electrically powered standard unit that is small enough to be attached to the cabinet while providing a high enough CFM to generate some air speed inside each cell?

Thank you for your replies.

Eugene, your best bet is going to try and find a local refrigeration tech, that also has the mindset of an engineer. There is no way you are going to cool that box with any kind of standard unit. There are so many variables involved here, i.e. btu gain and loss, custom fabrication of ductwork. If you are any where close to N.E Kansas, we could possibly help, but be prepared to pay, as we charge more for the unknown than the known.

After dertemining the actual load of this device you may be able to utilive a unit similar to those used on some small cell phone tower sites. I have seen electronic cabinets with 2 ton units mounted directly onto a hinged door on either side of the cabinet.
I believe the manufacturer is SUN Manufacturing out of Vienna Georgia.
Hope this is of some help to you.

In order to size the unit you need to determine the load. Try a Bard unit. http://www.bardhvac.com/app_cntr_telecomm.shtml
