Well, in the midst of getting my a$$ handed to me due to the cold, I get a call today from a customer that started a True T-49F new out of the box.

Temp wouldn't drop below +35F.

BOTH door switches were bad. One had no continuity from C to NO or NC and the other would open between C and NC but wouldn't close from C to NO.

Another quality True product:rolleyes: ....................They must not test these things for QC at the factory huh?

How much life do you suppose was drained out of the compressor from this incident?.....................Oh well, guess it's a disposable world now days.

I've been is nrh eame boat, I've started up too many to count True Coolers, workin for a company who does Coke service will do that. I've had a dozen or more that were DOA, Refrigerant leaks, faulty controls, plus other stuff, even an open compressor, that's a nice one!! haha, knocking compressors, well that's the shippers fault they say !! haha

I have been to the factory. They do in fact run test every unit for 24 hours. They have area were all units are wired up to chart recorders. If passed that chart is put in a file along with its serial number. the file has all information on who made it. Every working shift on every line has to meet quality standards. If they fall below standards they loose their yearly bonus.Thats why they want the warranty reports so detailed.

Ya get bad in anything, even a Chevy everynowandagain:D Most of my experience with True is if you keep the cond.clean all usually goes well, now ive had my rounds with them no doubt, they are quite cheap, just needs a little extra TLC.As far as compressors nocking and so forth true doesnt make em,I think its Copeland tag made by Emerson, how was this thing getting down to 35,static cooling or what, with bad door switches the evap fans doesnt work do they?Ive found that most parts on true coolers look to be as good as quality as some of the higher end boxes, just the cond. are a little small and boxes are light, which the light part i like, much easier to move:D.

Trues are everywhere! They can be a pain but, man when they work they drop that temp. fast! Hey Mojo, I talked to Oscar the other day.
A ten month old 3 door freezer lost the compressor. When I get there it's still plugged in and i hear the fans but no compressor. I open the door and the condenser fan goes off! Ohhh kay, now it's no wonder the pump is off on internal but i sure hate checking those door switches, easy order compressor and walk job has turned sour! Find the door switches are fine, checked them all ways and back, now i'm in deep tracing wirers and all. Oscar pointed out that the brown and the black wire on the defrost clock were switched:confused:

I don't think ive ever had to check a True cooler, they may all be Tecumseh for all I know, anyway all the freezers i have worked on has been Copeland,It makes me no difference what kind of compressor,I cant tell a difference in the quality of between the two.I worked at a Tecumseh factory making pumps for a while, they moved out of here about 5 year ago,my dad had 30 yr.in that place and so did about 1000 others, they just left em high and dry,I don't think much of em for that but i guess its buisness, ruthless.I wasnt employed there at the time they left, but i hate it for all the older guys.

actually i was at that freezer today for a bit of maintenance, it's still runnin like a champ. I believe it is an older model TRUE and perhaps from an era where quality was more important than cost!

True ...Good maker for all of us,..They are made so bad, no Qa at all......Good tech support, but I don't think they run them 24 hrs,..no way some of them come doa from the factory, no way they could have run, I got FOB... the unit didn't have wiring 1 In It. http://bestsmileys.com/thinking/6.gif
