There is a Trane BCU controlling a few Intellipak RTUs. What is the best way to get rid of the BCU? Install LCI cards and go Lon or is there some way to go Bacnet directly?

Code writer,
Are you going to create a Trane driver?

If I put in Lon cards what is the programming like? Will I need a Trane tech to bring out SNVTs or will they magicallly appear when I put the card in?

Read this (http://www.hvac-talk.com/vbb/showthread.php?p=1005248#post1005248) about Intellipak Lon compatibility.
Trane techs can do nothing for you. You as the integretor need to read the literature. Rover is useless on this unit.

Kwill why isn't there a plug-in for the lci-i card?

Intellipak has Human Interface module to access unit configuration data. I think it would be great for troubleshooting and viewing unit setpoints and status myself. I'm sure the cost of writing the plug-in was too much.

Let's say I have a jace and an existing Lon network and I want to put on some Intellipaks. What steps would I have to do? If I put the card in will it automatically read and offer all SNVTs?

As far as the Intellipak is concerned once the LCI-I card is installed and properly set in the Configuration menu it is ready. You will need to change the control source in the menu from Local to BAS/Network as well.
