Green M&M is a lady tech down in Virginia. She came up to the 06 convention here in Vermont. I think she had a real fun time. I bet she shows up in W-S. These conventions are different every year. Strictly social.
This best part is that they are in a city that the host lives in. I would never have thought of visiting Winston-Salem unless Selfemployed and his lovely wife hadn't invited us to the convention there.

I am a RUUD dealer. I buy from Dealer's Supply here in Atlanta, mostly from the Doraville branch. I like their products, and Dealer's Supply is a company that supports their dealers, which is a BIG thing to me; I use this as a benefit in sales presentations.
Convention should be fun! I am looking forward to meeting a bunch of folks.

I agree about the distributor's job, and will not mention any names... BUT there are a few big names here in town that do not care about anyone that does not move HUGE amounts of equipment. (And a few of those HUGE volume dealers set new standards for hackery in installations).
Dealers on the other hand will take just as good care of their small customers as the big ones. And with 6 of the 10 largest RUUD dealers in the nation being customers of Dealer's supply, they could very well have gottne the 'attitude' that other folks have.
THX for your input. Looking forward to meeting you also!
Have a GREAT one!

I would suggest that if there is a Marriot Courtyard there to ask them for a group rate. I have stayed at Courtyards for decades, they are really nice... and the price is competitive given the accomodations.

Look at the pics from past conventions. Lot of fellowshiping good food and some shop talk. The ladies have more fun than the men for sure. Saturday seems to be the day people go sight seeing. You can't get lost, we exchange cell #'s so your safe. It's great to see different parts of the country and know where to go while your there. Check out the W-S link. There's lots to see, from art to history to wine tasting. The mountains are about 1.5 hrs. away and 10º cooler. Blue Ridge Parkway is a nice way to see them.

LOL ga and makinice , get those thought out of your heads right now !! There is NO WAY you can even put the Conventions and ARP in the same paragraph !!!
Just scroll through the pictures of the past 3 , specifically the past 2 :) , conventions on here . They will paint a pretty good picture of what they are like for you . There has been no arguements or anything like that . Actually quite the opposite . EVERYONE gets along and has a great time. One of the cool things is spending the weekend with others that you have absolutley nothing in commom with except the HVAC trade . I have sat down and got drunk with guys that I never thought I would have anything in common with but we all have a great freakin time !!!! Like I said just look @ the pictures on here from the past !!!

I am assuming VAV's are related to duct work. I work in a commercial building and had the engineer come out to check the computer room. The room appears to generate a lot of heat. The contract calls for the room to be separately zoned. The engineer said the room's HVAC was shared with 2 other rooms. He said the room had a VAV that could be closed off which would prevent some of the heat from other areas. To me, this is not separately zoned. What do you think? :(
Hi new guy. Welcome to H-Talk. Don't be disappointed if you don't get your answer here. You are in the wrong forum. A moderator will move this to the commercail forum soon. Check out the Commercial forum if you can't find your post.

Hell if I can squeaze it in I'll make it. I have a trip scheduled to see my cousin in Oregon in early August. He left TN back in the 50's when my grandfather auctioned off the farm. If I come I'll bring my "flack" jacket.:D :D :D

Hey Bob, (not the moderator--the marketing guy);
I do not know a single person on this forum beyond the postings (have talked to a few on the phone though), but I am planning to come and meet most of them.
Should be a lot of fun! And if I can handle it, then I am sure anyone else here can...
Looking forward to meeting a bunch of folks in August!
There are all kinds of cliches you could use here:
"All work and no play makes Bob a dull boy"
"Nothing ventured nothing gained."
"Don't be a stick in the mud."
"Life is too short."...........

I am not sure if I will be there. I don't smoke. I gave up drinking a long time ago. And it would be a lonely one man 12 hour drive.
So someone convince me to go!

There are may sights to see here. Check the W-S home page. http://www.wscvb.com/ Plenty of places with live music downtown. There are horse shoe pits and I think volleyball at the picnic shelter. Also paddle boats, horseback ridding, feed the ducks, par 3 golf, PGA golf course, nature trails in the park. Church on Sunday if you chose. Oh and a group of people you have yet to meet. You get a shirt to prove you were here too. 5 color I might add.
Bob it is a great fellowship of industry folks. You will not be disappointed

O K Bob, I see that as a challenge... :)
Lessee now...
There are lots of HVAC folk there, so conversation will not be a problem. :) Many of the folks you have sold your marketing kits to will be there so I am sure they will hit you up for some shop talk.
There will be more good food than we could possibly eat... :p I like that part!
There will be activities to do.
There will be a lot of just plain good times for all! :)
I will be taking pictures, you may get to be a celebrity...
You might see someone you knew from years ago...
You might have a good time regardless of whether it sounds like fun...
Yeah, by all means, fly if a 12 hour drive does not sound good.
And last and probably least: I for one would enjoy meeting you and taking about marketing.
So come on down and meet everyone!

Go up the road a ways and find calabash seafood hut. Just in NC. Get a shrimp sandwich. Remember swampfox is down that way and Murrells Inlet is south of M. B. Good places to eat there too.
