No. R2 has its own network mgmt database. And it can easily learn an existing network without LNS.

also will this system run on SQL?
Not by default. But SQL is one of the options.

Starting with Niagara 2.301.321.v1, additional (and optional) support for Microsoft MSDE or MS SQL databases was introduced, as an alternative to the standard Cloudscape SQL database. I don't think it costs $, at least not that I know. You just need to select the option in Database service.

If you are referring JACE, I know someone did it.

I've always been told "LNS network manager and JACE are two different network managers... can't have two NM's on same network."
If someone's done it, it musta been a fun one to write and manage. ;)

SQL is an upgrade last I knew, with a cost.

Yes, you are right. And I have to change my statement.

Using SQL requires additional field in license file: databaseType=MS_SQL_SERVER

Whether there is a charge for the license change depends on the project size, your relationship with Tridium, blah blah....

And note it supports SQL2000, not 2005.

SQL is an upgrade last I knew, with a cost.
