I'd like to hook up a buzzer or bell as a temporary notice to me when my T-stat calls for W2.
I've got the leads on the controller board, but don't know how much load it can take. probably next to nothing, but who knows...
It's a carrier Comfort Zone II.
Any thoughts?
Thanks,
dan

let t-stat trigger a relay which triggers the door bell --
I think you would fry a t-stat otherwise --
I have replaced door bell switches about ea 10y -- & they have heavier contacts, I believe --

just power the coil on an R8222 1014 HWL relay, with a separate xformer there to bring the noise.

I can see an indicator light on the stat, but do you really want a buzzer/bell to go off whenever w2 is called for? Are you going to run over and shut the unit off?Are you trying to annoy someone or have a conversation piece?

?Are you trying to annoy someone
I'm sure he's not trying to do that... but I'll admit, my evil mind will remember that trick for future use someday! lol

Why you want a buzzer!? LOL
What do you have for a t-stat? on the TH8320, could make the red LED come on.

:D :D
Does seem kinda nutty, don't it?
But I don't wanta know what a data logger for these things costs, or even if one exists...
There are a few things I might do w/W2, but most likely cooler heads will prevail and I'll leave it at trying to determine the balance point of my system. Since that tends to happen when I'm sleeping a simple buzzer, as temporary install, struck my mind. Yes, turning it off would be a must have. I just sorta skipped over the other side of the relay. I was mainly worried about drawing more current then the controller could provide.
Since Doc suggested the HP relay, I suppose I can assume it's a 24v. Which was pretty likely anyway. But my dealer is closer then grainger so I think I'll just ask my dealer (If I can ever get hold of them, day #3) for the relay of their choice.
Of course by then I may no longer care. I'm gathering data bit by bit already..
Thanks guys..
