Found this in a Frigidaire Commercial Model B80LGPBR 3-Door Freezer.

This was a Copeland KATB-0150-CAV.

Mfr Data Plate called for 49oz R-502, but had been converted to R-408a several years ago.

Comp draws 4.4 amps, rated for 9.9

20/155psi operating pressures. 2 degrees of Superheat. Box Temp @ +5.

Weighed out charge, 115oz R-408a.

TXV wide open, CPR threaded down bottomed out.

Gonna put it back together in a day or two when/if the estimate is approved.

Probably should've posted this in Wall Of Shame.

I love the semi-hermetic compressors and especially the copeland models. You can at least do a tear down and see if the thing can be bored out and made into a champ or if the thing can be made into something better!!

Customer gave us the okeydoke. They now have cold hard ice cream again. Probably gonna take a full bottle of nitro to get all the green sh!t out of my manifold rig. The boys at Copeland are gonna want to take a stick to me when they get that Core. Sorry fellas. I didn't do it, just found it.

what green stuff?

you certainly aint talking about Spectronics florescent leak detection chemical are you?
Because Copeland specifically details that stuff IS APPROVED in their systems!!!

in fact, Spectronics is THE ONLY additive approved inside Copeland's compressors besides oil and refrigerant!

Not being familiar with leak detection additives, I guess I don't really know. All I know is it fouled my rig. Not sure how much it actually helped the last guy, What with the blatant flooding, busted con-rod, etc. Mfr approved or not, that stuff seems like more hassle than it's worth.
