dsirdah - I have seen many of your posts and you are asking very basic questions reguarding the Alerton system. My best advice is for you to go to Alerton school. 9999 means you have not renumbered / downloaded the controller.

i knew that all my questions are basics and thats because i'm doing that without any training, I'm doing it by my own, and i already did 90% of the work, made the programs, made the cable, commissioned a DDC and now I'm in the VAVs, the good news that i found the problem, i was using network number 1 for the MS/TP network, and that didn`t work. so never use network number 1 :D the job I'm handling is a 3 million $ job, 60 DDCs and 1100 VAVs. Thank God I'm doing fine :D

Installing any VLC on a VLX mstp communication line is illegal network architecture. Doing so is asking for trouble. The VLX mstp communication is designed for EXP modules only. You might get away with it for a while, but you will have problems down the road. Save yourself the trouble and hook your VLC's to the BCM comm line.

how come? as far as i know that there are 2 comm buses in the VLX, one for the EXPs and the other is a MS/TP bus, and there is no such MS/TP bus in the EXPs..

you can run vlx's off of the VLC comm line, but you are limited to about 10 controllers and a short cable run. the rest of your devices should be on the main trunk line comming from a BCM or BTI depending on the age of stuff (if there LSI's then run).

that's a heck of a job if you don't know alerton, who is going to warranty any of this? did the Alerton rep get kicked off site?

the device 9999 is a new controller that has never been sent it's device instance.

let me know if i can help, worked with Alerton for 10 years before i left and started making my life miserable with Honeywell :)

That would be the state east of Maryland, yes.

Yea, just bored. Your profile said northeast MD which could be the town of Northeast rather than north east maryland, but you told the guy you were from Delaware and everyone is asking Delawhere just like the joke. Hey, 30 years ago, I ordered something from someone in California and I got, "Delaware", What state is that in.

no problem, i'm 10 minutes from Northeast :) i'm live in Fairhill which is where Barbaro and the other horses are trained (5000 acres of state land). 99% of the work i do is in Delaware.
