Can someone please help?
Got called out today on a freezer. They claim the freezer they have
only cools down 23-28 deg average.
They said someone change the condensing unit about 2-3 years ago.
28 x 15 Box
HTPG M# HTLD5L44-E
SN# W05A28240813001
Evap LET1201F ( two evap same model)
TXV HFE-1-RZ
Compresor M# 2DAB-060E-TFC
They want it to maintain ( 0-10 deg)
They have mostly meat product ( chicken fried steak, Meat balls etc)
The box is 75% stock all the time, Product comes in at around (0-10 deg)
I really did not get too deep on this I told them I need to checkwith supply
house to make sure we have enough capacity on unit before digging in.
I cant find my Quick reference on walk ins.
The Box is not that tight ( old )
I apreciate any input on the sizing of this box.

Heatcraft Engineering Guide (http://www.heatcraftrpd.com/resources/wiringdiagrams/H-ENGM0806.pdf)
This should tell you all you need to know and then some. Quick sizing is on Page 41.
Should be able to figure out load from the link - I'm too damn tired to look up capacity tonight but the coils are rated at 12,000/ea.

if box height 9 to 10 feet and food coming in frozen, equipment is OK
you are not being told something or hot food is coming in or box insultion
is broken down - SOMETHING!

i would need more info from the client. if the condenser was change 2-3 years and not running right since then? or the problem just started? i believe that sizing is just an estimate. to get the size right i leave that to the engineer because there are many factors. ambient temp, location, insulation, type of material being use on, frequency of unit being use, etc.

Hmm... Something is not right in Texas. A 2DAB-060E 3 phase w/ twin 12K coils. It does make you wonder what condition the box is in. Or if the previous company upped the C.U. based on the condition of the freezer. Or if the box was sized for 0* design and not -10* for heavy use.

With an 18 hour daily runtime and the information you give, the BTU requirement is about 24,000/hr at 0 degree box temperature. That unit should be just right. Check the refrigerant pressures to see whether the compressor is pumping properly and the TXVs are feeding properly. If the refrigeration is working right, then the load must be more than we are figuring. One thing to check is the defrost heaters if it is electric defrost. Make sure they are not operating after the defrost cycle terminates. Contactor contacts may be welded or the heater itself can be shorted to ground. If the system has hot gas defrost, check the hot gas solenoid.

Is there any signs of frozen condensation where the box sections meet?? I am wanting to put my bet on the fact that the old box is losing too much Btu an hr. and the condensing unit is sized properly. Maybe it is low because the past tech didn't wrap the service valve and melted th plastic bushings (fixed this crap before) . Low temp silicone caulk????:D

First question,...are you going to get paid for telling them whats he needs to fix the box??.....you said another co was out there and change the condenser?
you will have to have the size check with a mfg, like marketech said, then start at the beginning, you will have at least 2/2.5 hrs, sizing the box and the equipment...just a though.
