I have a project that just finished. It has three heat pump split systems, one 5 ton and two 7.5, Trane voyagers. The general asked if any cfc's were used, I said no, only hcfc's. He then said he needed no cfc's of any kind, and that this was to receive a special LEED grant for the project. If you commit to using epa friendly materials you can receive money from the government. It is way too late to change out gear, so I was hoping there was a industry approved non-ozone depleting drop in for 22.

There was a big Eurpoean owned manufacturer here in town that the home office said no HCFCs. They put up a slug of big Trane RTUs, had the brand new R22 sucked and filled with NU22. NU22b is even closer in operation and capabity to R22.

Might be worth checking out.
