Hello.

Need opinions here please. It has been summer since I last posted a question on this forum. Back in late June, I had a new Lennox HSX19 and 60V split system with VisionPro stat installed in my Las Vegas home of 1165 sqft. The contractor recommended and then installed a 3 ton two-stage AC and matching variable speed blower. It cools fast and cold/clammy, but is short cycling with only 6-9 minutes run duration. Down times in between runs is about 15-20 minutes. It obviously does not remove the level of humidity that the older replaced York unit did when it ran. The old one rattled and vibrated and was 20 years old....but it ran a good long time each cycle....and kept the humidity a good 5-10% lower than I have now with the new AC.

I expressed my frustration a few months back, and the company finally sent out two of the same techs that had come out numerous times before and said nothing was wrong. They did the same thing this time after not even opening anything up, and said to call them in the spring and they might be able to make some adjustments then. I had asked about having them do a manual J prior to install, but estimator said that was not needed with standard tract home, and used a 400 sqft per ton method of sizing. He also used my home's existing old R22 refrigerant lines, and they used some type of suction box device to remove the old line's mineral oil, apparently. The contractor's installer also scuffed the blower unit as he was putting it in garage. Some scuffs/dings on the AC unit as well, and bent back panel corner. Hostile attitude. He apparently had his partner call-off for that day, and was also robbed the prior night. I am sorry for his circumstances, but felt it was taken out on me with a poor selection and install. I took plenty of photos of the issues when he was installing. It was too late to stop install, as by that time, the old gear was orn to pieces on the driveway. Well they DID also give me a free stuffed smiley company mascot animal doll, so I guess I should be happy. I liked their business philosophy and literature they provide, and expected a professional organization installing the stuff.

I really did want to have a good feeling about the equipment, install, and the actual company, and can't get past the sinking feeling still hanging with me. I did not discover this very informative forum until AFTER all this transpired. I like the Lennox product fine, but believe they sold me more AC and furnace than my small single level house size really requires. My brother thinks this is seriously oversized as well, and he had a throrough Manual J done for his custom home in Tucson last year. If the contractor is not responsive in this instance, where do I go next for some resolution? I paid huge bucks for this thing, and will be stuck with it for a good part of my life. Thanks for letting me vent, and appreciate any opinions on best actions I can take toward an equitable remedy. Am I overreacting here? Take care....and thanks again for any suggestions!

having worked the vegas market most of my life i dont think the unit is oversized @ 3 ton & 1165 sq.ft. my own res. is 1600 + - & i am using a 5 ton
dual fuel gas pack W/ a v p 8320 & the comfort level is very good . my unit was oversized intentionally. it really sounds as if the unit was not properly setup & possibly the visionpro not setup properly.
dont remember ever having a a high humidity problem here the majority of the time , but during the monsoon season we have a week or so of it.
what part of town are you located in ?
sounds like a relatively easy fix. not really looking for more work but know
