So let the Liberal Democratic games begin.

Now a Assembly women from Mexifornia, Sally Lieber, wants to regulate how you take care of your family.

NO SPANKING YOUR CHILDREN.

personally I think this is a major invasion of privacy. I also think the The United States Goverment is trying to run my life. This is just an intrusion into my life

Mexifornia--you got it right. I like that. Just think at the rate our current politicians are going, even a nice 88% white place like Rochester, NY will look like Mexifornia. Isn't that a pleasant thought? BTW, I like Rochester very much. Recently visited--Stratholler or Starthallen Motel?

I'll bet they still condone their girlie men spanking one another.

What's this world coming to when you can't whip the piss out of your kids. :D

Next thing you know they will be letting women vote.

The Bible says, "He who spares his rod hates his son, But he who loves him disciplines him promptly." Proverbs 13:24 NKJV

I will go with what God say's over the lunnies. :D

When my daughter needs a hug, she'll get one. When she needs a spanking, she'll get one. Pass any law you wish, nowadays yelling at your kid is verbal abuse.

now-a-days kids know their constitutional rights, to bad for my kid he was born into a dictatorship :D ;)

I don't think the government has done very well raising kids in the past. Who are they to tell me?

This must be a knee jerk reaction of some ******* politician who was abused as a child. Punish the abusers.

Big Brother has been here for awhile, he moved in as we were all waving the flag.

My kids were spanked, but only when they really needed it, and not a beating or anything like that, just a whack on the bottom. Not often.
It's all about consistancy and rewarding your kids and most importantly, being there and spending time with them. It takes great sacrifice to be a good parent.
On the other hand, seeing someone beat their kid in public is disturbing and I'm quite sure there are many kids being abused who could be helped by even this kind of seemingly bizaare legislation which should only be enforced in severe cases.
Hey, look at everyone against abortion, the rights of the unborn, sometimes the born have rights too. And maybe not getting beat by mommy and daddy every night is one of em.

I don't think the beaters care about laws. In the old days when kids got abused, the neighbors would get together and have a talk with mommy or daddy.

You cannot legislate morality.

I think your talking about an extremely small part of the population. There are all ready laws on the books against beating/abusing children (and women for that matter)

Enforcement is the key. Having more laws doesn't equate to quality laws.

How in the world is anyone going to enforce this stupid law????

I am not a supporter of spanking. I was spanked and it really did not serve any purpose other than to teach me to cover my tracks better and not get caught. I am not talking about a swat on the but or two when in public for shooting off the mouth at mom or something, I am talking about the formal come to the bedroom for a spanking crap, it was a total waste.

I also do not share in the viewpoint that I am RIGHT about this because how you discipline your kids is about as far from my business as it gets, I just make the choice not to use that method.

Beat your kid, I will put a stop to it and call the cops, spank your kid not my business.

By todays standards when my pop open handed slapped my brother onto his butt sliding across the kitchen for giving mom the big FU at 17, dad should be in jail, however since it was way back when, my brother just has the good sense not to say FU to ladies anymore!

ANYONE says FU to my wife, just asked for a big cup of ass whooping:mad:  your brother is lucky I'm not your dad, he would have been in the hospital.......period.

There is absolutely no excuse for saying FU to your mother. Especially at 17, you don't like how things are done, theres the door, don't let it hit you in the butt on the way out:mad:

When you look at the shape of your open hand and the shape of your kids butt you can see they were made for each other.:D
That has always been the limit of our discipline - a good smack on the a$$ to get their attention.
Then we'ed go about explaining to them why we did what we did and why they deserved what they got.
I guess the spanking was more of an attention getter.

Out of my three kids I believe I have spanked them a total of 4-5 times altogether. They understand that if they get out of line they'll get a good one. One thing though is I've always treated them with respect and they returned it back.

Of my three boys, one needed to be spanked once in a while, one, spanking would do absolutely no good and the youngest needed to get stomped once in a while, but didn't until the night he decided to play fisticuffs with dad because he was on oxycoten and couldn't feel me beating the crap out of him.

My point is that all kids are different and need to be disciplined differently. All three of my boys turned out good and I have a good adult relationship with all three of them.

Oh; my dad never hit me. He was a bit too intimidating for me to provoke him to that point. The biggest problem came when the government caused our children to lose their natural fear of their parents when they do wrong.

Yup. I'm with ya on that , jmac.

At 17, you say something like that to my wife and you best know how to defend yourself. I'd be out of jail before you are out of the hospital.

It's either your morality or the other guy's that gets the nod. It is the end result of each individual law and the sum total of each city/muni's, each county's, each state's etc. entire body of laws. Why does a person feel guilty when he/she breaks a law? It seems to me every law is a way to legislate [I]someone's [I]morality.
This legislator from the land of fruits, nuts, and flakes is just trying to get a leg up on you. Why wouldn't we simply enforce the laws already on the books? Did we just in 2007 figure out that abuse is not good? There are laws against abuse. Seems like liberals manage to come up with more and more ways to get the State more money for another agency with 400 pound slugs "working", rather than bite the bullet and enforce current law. Question is ...have you read any good lawyer jokes lately? (there is a thread BTW)
