Hi,, first time post...I looked at a new account today we installed new rooftops,,but took over the refrigeration too, they have three Hussman 3 door reachins..all three same equipment, self contained units,,,they were complaining of cases being warm and no air flow...looked in cases and found all three units iced up...all runniing r-134a.....no defrost on them..medium temp soda coolers....was just wondering if anyone has heard of a hussman problem with r134a cases,,maybe bad metering devices or something,,,the owner says they have had problems from day one with cases,,,,we just took over account,,,,told them they would have to shut all cases down to de-ice to properly check...if they want to go further with us....
was just checking out there if anyone has seen a problem with this type of hussman case with 134a....thanks for any info... :)
just thought it strange all three doing the same thing

All cases can freeze up and there are about 100 different reasons why - can't even offer a suggestion based on the information given.

Get some information posted and you'll receive a ton of feedback:)

just a few thoughts.

why assume all three froze up at same time?

why shut down? just turn up stat and let evap fans run.

getting correct info from disgrunted kitchen staff is almost an art form

melt them down. start them up and start checking. door gaskets and closures first

kitchen staff knows difference between hot and cold doesn't care much beyond that. ask them and truly learn the meaning of "a blank expression"

Some quick things to look for: Failed / Stuck Timer, Plugged Drains, Dirty Coils, Fans. Hussmann has many PDFs on the website. With the Model # you may be able to download something. Post some operating data....
