New customer calls at 7a.m., needs ac disconnected as they are changing out furnace around noon - 1 hr drive from me. I can't make it until later in day or more likely tomorrow morning. So he says "We'll just have to pinch the ac lines off and we might loose some (refrigerant) but just get there as soon as you can". Nice job planning, potentially huge customer for me but do I really want that kind of work? I might be too busy all together next time around!

Why arent you doing both jobs? I wouldn't disconnect an A/C for somebody else to change a furnace. That just don't make sence.

does the EPA bounty photos count if its a HO?:D If so, pay a neighbor kid 50 bucks to snap a pic. Piss Poor Planning Produces Piss Poor Performance. ( I think thats how it goes ):p Can't they wait and get everyone coordinated together instead of hacking it all up. ( ohh wait, this is a homeowner were talking about ).

Unfortunately not a homeowner, it's a remote work site - I am the closest person around (1 hour is actually fairly close!). The gasfitters are doing what they 'have to do' under the circumstances, however they could use electric heaters and plan for 1 more day without furnace, it is only getting to about 10*F tonight. I don't really want to know the rest of their story, and I'll bet you don't either. I'll have to document the details on my end and pass on the details to their office so they know better for next time (give them the benefit of the doubt this time).
