Invensys/Barber Colman signal software: I am trying to get this older software to operate under windows XP. The installation goes fine, but the comm server module fails. I hope this is a simple fix, getting a new PC set up with an older version of windows has no future.

Can you still get copies of Signal? I have one site that runs a Signal demo program and would love to get it working properly.

Unfortunately you will not be able to get that version of signal to run under Windows XP. I believe the only way you will be able to get signal to run in Windows XP is to purchase Signal XP.
And yes it is still available through your local Invensys/TAC rep but it is pricey.

Won't happen, ur wasting your time trying to get it to work, even if you got past all the DLL and communication server module problems , the program wouldn't open anyway there is no driver for the hasp, it just won't see it. You have to upgrade the software, probably about a grand to do it.Save you a lot of heartache cause nothing you do is going to work. The latest OS you could get that old software to work on is WInME, ( VM's won't help either)but even at that you probably still have unresolved Y2K issues in your calendar and scheduling portals. Get rid of it, sell them a UNC (Jace )with a GCM serial driver. And give them web access to there systems.

Have gotten SIGNAL to work in XP on 1 site as a test, needs quite a bit of TINKERING but it works , just to let you know that you will not have XPSI.

Well we should share notes because I have never failed to get PSI to run, but could not get Signal to run on XP, ( older version) ,, Did the Y2K work out though ?

Cheapest way is to have the machine turned into a "dual boot" with 98 and XP on it. Boot to 98 when you want signal. Make a DOS boot disk and you can run PSI.
ControlMan did you right click on .exe and goto properties, compatibility,?

Post should have read that " You will not get PSI if you go with the new version / update from local REPS after spending over $5Gs " I have it working on the terst unit.
