My fav bass player was the guy from Ratt. He would air guitar like he was playing lead cause the lead guitarist couldn't. I was blown away to find he was playing bass :p

Gene Simmons is great also. He does play lead with the bass.

He is good real good. This is all I could find on this guy but I think he is probably is one of my top five pickers of all time. I don't care for country music that much but I can tell when someone that plays a instrument is good. Roy can play a bunch. I remember seeing him do a segment one time when he was talking to his guitar and he was making the guitar talk back and I swear you could understand what it was saying.
