I have a large tonnage chiller with ATB on the condenser, wich happens to have lake water running through it.Heres the problem, pulled the end bells and found a large section approximately 3 ft sq of the baskets that hold the brushes melted in a pile. The melted section is on the Leaving cond water side and the division plate was also broken. Also keep in mind this is a high pressure 134 a centrifugal, factory default for high pressure is 140 psi, wich coresponds to 108 degrees f but I have the cut out lowered to 125 to prevent high cond pressure surge, just wondering if anyone has ever seen this before ,I am going to contact ATB eventually.
Thanks for any input and happy New Year!

I had lake cooled condensor, when the unit shut down the water ran backwards thru the condensor at a very impressive rate. They let the discharge tube sink to the bottom, and it drew gravel and rocks in. Beat everything to hell, the condensor cleaning system look like it had melted but was just beat into a glob. They called when the tube plate broke. PS This was in Carolina, over ten years ago, at a Govt. installation and the Chiller was on a Flatbed trailer, with the pumps inside the building. Sound familiar?

this was on the leaving side exiting barell, sorry the job you mention does not ring a bell to me.The tubes will fill up with small clam shells even with ATB.

Automatic tube brushing?
How does it work?
What size/brands/types of machines is this available on?
Is there an automatic flush or do you still have to pull the endbells off every year?
