Forced Air Boiler Ducts

Just moved into my house. Ranch with ductwork in basement on ceiling burried behind drywall. When the metal heats up on a heating cycle it ticks and taps like a boiler. It is 26g metal cross broke with slips and drives. Any ideas on how to easily fix the ticking and tapping.

Drop it an 1/4" off the joist.

so it looks like there is no way around ripping up drywall.

Afraid not.

Most people just learn to live with it, to save the cost of the drywall repair.
