View Full Version : s/s chimney liner cap question
My fireplace and boiler flues exit side-by-side through the same chimney. I just had a s/s liner put in the boiler flue. The installer removed my 14x26 s/s chimney cap (covering both flues) in order to put on the new liner rain cap, which stands too tall to put the chimney cap back on. Can I ask that the new liner cap be removed and have my 14x26 cage reinstalled to cover both flues? I need both flues covered.
thanks.

get a smaller cap to go on the fireplace by itself. the cap that came with the liner is what it was tested and approved with, i would not modify it.

I second that, had the same issue come up on one of our installs this week.

keep the individual caps. You may be able to modify the lid on the Fp cap to make room for the liner cap. Also, I extend the liner with a short section of stainless but only if it is tested and listed with that liner. I run a strut from the Fp cap to this extension to stabilize it so it doesn't wobble.
