My HVAC heat pump stopped working. It tries to turn on when the temperature goes below the minimum or above the max setpoints on the thermostat, but the fan doesn't start to blow air. It just makes a clicking sound for about 30 seconds or so then gives up and shuts off. Can anyone tell me where the problem is and how much repair will be needed? Thanks.

It will take a service tech to be at your house to find and fix the problem.

Well, if there is no further discussion, this motion passes. Call that tech.

One thing you can do if its not worken cut the power off ,cause if that indoor fan motor isn't coming on and its sitten there bumping on headpressure and kicking off on the overload your gonna have major probs.Anyway kill the power to inside unit if ya havent already.A qualified tech should be able to take care of it,but thats what ya need,or if its a self contained unit where everything is outside pull your disconects outside until the prob.is taken care of,its not doing any heating anyway.
